Dear God: I’m still not sure how people pray.
Or what one does with one’s hands.
But please, my thirst grows every day.
I feel it burn in my glands.
Please won’t you change the way I am, or prove I’m human underneath.
Or if you just don’t give a damn-
You could at least get rid of these!
If I can’t prove them wrong, show me where I belong,
for a hunger so strong kills all comfort and joy.
If you’d make me complete. I’ll avoid all red meat,
I’ll eat nothing but soy to have comfort and joy…

No One Is AloneReblogged from latterday
No One is Alone
thinking a lot about this song lately, and what it means. it’s just so rich. it’s totally taking the whole preachy-storybook-reading deal and flipping it inside out. like, yes, the giant did this and the witch did that and the princess choose this, but you are your own person, and you have to decide for yourself what YOU will do.
and the whole “people make mistakes holding to their own, thinking they’re alone” part. because when you think you’re one speck of nothing in the universe, yes you’ll falter and make mistakes, because you don’t think you have a support system. but you do have a support system (you are not alone)— the key is to just not rely on that system as a comfort pillow, but just use it as context (honor their mistakes, fight for their mistakes, everybody makes one another’s terrible mistakes) to formulate your own moves in life.
and then, on the flip side, people who make choices that you think are wrong? they’re in the same place as you! they’re not alone, and you’re not alone. they made their choice, you can make yours. you can’t blame them and they can’t blame you.
you decide, but you are not alone.
This is why Into the Woods is my favourite show.
I don’t care what anyone says, I adore this show so fucking much. It’s beautiful, poignant, and so well plotted. I’d give anything to do the show again.
